     Mardi Himal Trekking  

     

    The Mardi Himal Trek is a NEW trekking trail that has opened recently. It is situated to the southerly high point of Mt.Annapurna massif, around this appear's an impresive grouping of mountains that include five of the twelve highest mountains in the world.
    You will be trekking into forest's, high alpine ridge's and roam pastures, at the base of the sacred fluted peak of Machapuchore or "Fish Tail" the Forbidden Mountain, one of the unconquered peaks to date.
    From Pokhara where the adventure of the trek begins, we trek to Pothana, we pass through traditional culture Gurung village's Forest camp, High camp, before reaching the Mardi base camp.
    This is the high point of this amazingly beautiful, trek(4500 m. high) here you will enjoy stunning panoramic views of the mountains and landscape. We then trek back to Siding village, making our way back to Pokhara. The Mardi Himal trek consists of short ascend and descend every day, it's striking and appealing, filled with magnificent route's and view's that also provide a golden opportunity to explore the traditional village's with there traditional and original ethnic diverse cultures. 

     

    Outline Itinerary:

     

    Day 01: Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu (1,300m)
    Day 02: Kathmandu Drive to Pokhara (6-7 hr drive)
    Day 03: Pokhara Drive to Phedi Trek to Pothana (1,890 m.)4-5 hours
    Day 04: Pothana Trek to Forest Camp (3,050 m.) 4-5 hours 
    Day 05: Forest Camp Trek to Low Camp (3,150 m.) 3-4 hours
    Day 06: Low Camp Trek to High Camp (3,900 m.) 3-4 hours
    Day 07: High Camp Trek to Siding village (1,700 m.) 5-6 hours
    Day 08: Siding Village Trek Lumre and Drive to Pokhara (2 hours trek, 4-hour drive)
    Day 09: Pokhara Drive to Kathmandu. (6-7 hr Drive)
    Day 10: Departure from Tribhuvan International Airport

  • Detail Itinerary
    • Day 1 Arrive at Tribhuwan International Airport (TIA) Kathmandu (1300m)
      Our representative will be at airport with your name card. Once you grab him you will be heartily welcomed by him putting garland on your neck which means welcome to Nepal. Then you will be driven to the hotel by car. Rest and enjoy the day around the Thamel.
    • Day 2 Kathmandu Drive to Pokhara (6-7 hr drive)
      Your guide will pick you up at the hotel at 6:30am and escort you to the bus station. The tourist bus to Pokhara leaves at around 7:30am. The scenery along the road is quite dramatic and you will see rivers, valleys, cascading rice terrace farms and rocky gorges. Upon arrival, you may check in at the hotel and in the evening, you may enjoy leisure boating on the scenic Fewa Lake and see the reflection of the Mount Machhapuchhre and Annapurna Range on the crystal clear water of the Lake.
    • Day 3 Pokhara Drive to Phedi Trek to Pothana (1890 m.)
      Morning breakfast and drive to Phedi will take about two and half hours. Begin short trek about 5 hours to Pothana. The trek continues through fantastic Rhododendron forest nesting different species of birds. As you climb higher, the panoramic view of villages dots the land below. The small village comprise of huge beauty if mountains, friendly Gurung people.
    • Day 4 Pothana Trek to Forest Camp (3050 m.)
      Morning breakfast and drive to Phedi will take about two and half hours. Begin short trek about 5 hours to Pothana. The trek continues through fantastic Rhododendron forest nesting different species of birds. As you climb higher, the panoramic view of villages dots the land below. The small village comprise of huge beauty if mountains, friendly Gurung people. From Pothana, you walk up to a place called Pitam Deurali, where you will turn off the main Annapurna Sanctuary Trek and continue along a quiet trail through a dense forest of oak, maple, hemlock and rhododendrons. Tonight, we will be staying at one of the lodges in a clearing of the forest at Forest Camp, also known by the locals as Kokar. The lodges at Kokar are quite basic and there is no dining room, so you will have meals in kitchen with the owner, so in some ways, this is more like a home stay and is a good opportunity to get to know this friendly family from Siding Village.
    • Day 5 Forest Camp Trek to Low Camp (3150 m.)
      From Forest Camp to Low Camp, the trail continues through the forest; however, as we ascend, the vegetation starts to change with more rhododendrons and trees covered with moss, lichen and tree ferns. At Low Camp, there are two basic lodges- one with a dining room with open fire. The view from Low Camp is superb, with Mount Machhapuchhre visible up the valley.
    • Day 6 Low Camp Trek to High Camp (3900 m.)
      An hour or so above Low Camp, the trail breaks out above the tree line and towards the west- there is a good view of the Annapurna South and the Hiunchuli. The trail continues along the Mardi Himal ridge mainly on grass with some isolated rhododendron bushes along the way. Look out for the colorful Danphe pheasants on this section of the trail. The lodge at High Camp is larger than lodges at Low Camp and Forest Camp, this one has eight rooms and a separate dining room with heater. The view from the lodge is superb of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli and Machhapuchhre.
    • Day 7 High Camp Trek to Siding village (1700 m.)
      On the return trek, we take a different route, thus completing a circuit and from the Low Camp there is a trail that goes down to Siding village rather than going back down Mardi Himal back to Kokar. Siding is a traditional Nepalese village and still very much away from the busier tourist treks and it is likely you will stay at a home in Siding owned by the person who runs one of the lodges at Low Camp.
    • Day 8 Siding Village Trek Lumre and Drive to Pokhara
      From Siding, you will walk out to the road head at Lumre; on the way from Siding you will pass the villages of Kalimati and Ghalel. Kalimati is mainly a Brahmin village with Ghalel and Siding both being a mix of Brahmin and Gurung. At Lumre, you will meet your jeep organized by us in advance to drive you back to Pokhara.
    • Day 9 Pokhara Drive to Kathmandu. (6-7 hr Drive)
      We weave the journey of this day by returning back to Kathmandu from the beautiful City of Pokhara. By this time of the entire trek, we will have spent a long period of unforgettable memories. It will have been one of the best holiday of your life.
    • Day 10 Departure from Tribhuwan International Airport
      Our staff will be ready to drive our customers to the airport at least three hours before the scheduled departure.
