AMS (acute mountain sickness is a serious issue It is the result of the failure of the body to adopt to high altitude and can affect anyone regardless of age or fitness. It is usually occurring above 1800 metres like hood of being affected increases as you ascend the way to reduce the effect of altitude is to ascend slowly 300m per day above 3000m until you have acclimatization. Poor acclimatization result will be headache, nausea, sleeplessness, difficulty to breathing and swelling of figures and glands.
